About Us

Canada’s largest Scouts Canada camp, Haliburton Scout Reserve (HSR), is almost 5000 acres of Canadian Shield, located in the Haliburton Highlands in Central Ontario.

Your group arrives fully self-contained for a week at one of our 23 campsites on our largest lake, Kennabi. Scouts Canada programs emphasize “youth-led” experiences, so your group youth leadership team should be involved from now! We have many amazing programs to offer during your stay at HSR. Book rappelling, climbing wall, sailing, kayaking, archery, riflery, trappers cabin, survival island, snorkelling, and paddle boarding!

We have thirteen lakes and ponds, thirteen sections of rivers and streams, fifteen marshes, and three beaver ponds in varying stages of succession, provide wilderness homes for a large assortment of animals, fish, birds, insects, and a significant variety of trees, shrubs, and plants.

Kennabi Lake, the largest lake on the reserve has 23 semi-wilderness sites with space for 8 – 60 campers per site. Each of these sites is accessible by water only. There are also outpost campsites on the other lakes such as Hurst Lake, primarily utilized as overnight sites or day trip destinations by groups hiking the 35 km of marked trails.

Thank you to our volunteers and donors!

We would like to thank all of the volunteers and donors who contributed to Haliburton Scout Reserve this year! We had a very successful summer after being closed for three years due to the pandemic. That success would not have been possible without the dedicated volunteers and the generous donors.

Our volunteers helped us with a large variety of projects including rebuilding the Hub stairs, staff cabins, barge dock, L-dock, archery and rifle decks, and much more. Our volunteers also helped train our staff in all our departments. Thank you to each and every one of our volunteers. We are extremely grateful to their dedication to HSR and making it a better place!
